How do I scan a business card?

Open CardMind and choose OCR Capture or Scan with AI. Place the card inside the frame, make sure the text is clear, and take the photo. You can review the result, edit any field, and save the contact only when you are satisfied.

What is the difference between OCR Capture and AI Scan?
+
OCR Capture works on your device and can be used without an internet connection. It is useful for quick scans and does not upload the card image.

AI Scan uses online AI processing to extract contact details. It usually gives better results for difficult cards, mixed-language cards, and Arabic cards, but it requires an internet connection and uses one AI scan from your allowance.

Do I need an internet connection?

An internet connection improves AI accuracy, but basic OCR scanning works fully offline. AI-powered extraction requires connectivity for best results.

Is my card image uploaded?

Only when you choose Scan with AI. In that case, the card image is sent securely for online AI processing so contact details can be extracted.

When you use OCR Capture, the card image is not uploaded.

Saved card photos remain on your device and are not included in cloud backup or sync.

Does CardMind support Arabic cards?

Yes. AI Scan supports Arabic and English, including mixed-language cards.

OCR Capture support depends on the device and platform. For Arabic cards, especially on Android, AI Scan is recommended for better accuracy.

Why did CardMind leave some fields empty?
+
CardMind avoids guessing. If a name, company, phone number, email, or other field cannot be read confidently, it may be left empty so you can review and complete it manually.

You can always edit the contact before saving.

What happens if the card has a QR code?

CardMind can read QR codes on business cards. If the QR code contains contact details, CardMind may use that information together with the text found on the card.

Can I scan both sides of a card?

Yes. After scanning the front side, you can add the back side. CardMind combines useful information from both sides into one contact.

How can I get better scan results?
+
Use good lighting, avoid glare and shadows, place the card on a flat surface, keep the phone parallel to the card, and make sure the card text is clear before taking the photo.

How many AI scans do I get?
+
Free users get 5 AI scans. You can receive 5 extra AI scans by watching a rewarded ad. Pro users get 100 AI scans. After those scans are used, additional AI scan packs can be purchased.

OCR Capture has its own free monthly allowance and does not use your AI scan balance.

What does Pro include?

CardMind Pro includes:
  • 100 AI scans
  • Unlimited OCR scans
  • No ads
  • Unlimited Excel exports
  • Cloud backup and sync for contact text
  • Future Pro features
Additional AI scan packs can be purchased after the included AI scans are used.

How does the referral program work?

You can share a referral code with a friend. A friend who signs in with your code gets 25% off Pro once. Successful referrals can unlock rewards such as ad-free days and extra AI scans.

Each referral code can be used once, so create a new code for each friend.

Is there a limit on Excel export?

Free users can export to Excel 5 times. Pro users get unlimited Excel exports.

You can export your saved contacts or share an individual contact using your phone's standard share options.

Where are my scanned cards stored?

Your card photos and saved contacts are stored on your device.

If you are signed in as a Pro user, the text fields of your saved contacts may be backed up and synced across your devices. Card photos are not synced.

Why does CardMind ask for Contacts permission?

CardMind asks for Contacts permission only when you choose to save a confirmed contact to your phone's address book.

The app does not upload your existing address book.

How do I delete my data?

You can delete saved contacts and card photos inside the app. You can also uninstall the app to remove locally stored data from your device.

To request deletion of online account data, such as account identifiers, synced contact text, referral records, or purchase status, contact support@northbytelab.com.

Do I need to sign in to use CardMind?

No. You can use CardMind without signing in.

Sign-in is optional and is mainly used to protect your Pro purchase, restore your access on a new device, and enable Pro features such as cloud backup and sync where available.

If you stay signed out, you can still scan, review, save, and export contacts on your device, but Pro access, purchase recovery, referral rewards, and cloud sync may require sign-in.
